#1 Recording, Readership

Artist: Readership
Album: #1 Recording
Genre: Post-Punk, College Rock, Indie Rock
RIFYL: Modern Baseball, REM, Sonic Youth

#1 Recording is a two track EP by local band Readership, and leaves you wanting more. The Album is fuzzy, poppy, and arranged fairly well. The band itself hails from West Chester, and is a trio fronted by guitarist/vocalist Adrian Moore. backed up by bassist Matt Mastronardo, and drummer Greg Matthew. The band takes a heavy influence from early 80's college rock, as well as heavier power pop.

The one thing I can really stress is that Moore's vocals and guitar playing sound great. His tone is never lost in the fuzzy overdriven guitar lines, and his vocals sound like he's on the verge of crying. They're charged with emotional, and sound like a mix between Michael Stipe and Jake Ewald from Modern Baseball.

The bass and drums are pumping on these tracks, and really fill the space between the guitars. Hats off to the rhythm section.

This will probably be my shortest review due, to the nature of the EP being so short. I can't wait to hear more from this band, and I hope they'll be paying shows soon!

I give it a 9/10
